Challenge Myself: Day #49 Make New Friends

Today is Day #49 of our Nar Anon Group Just For Today Challenge. I am also integrating the Live Happy into my Challenge. The Live Happy Challenge for today is to make new friends.

Having a son addicted to heroin we lost many friendships. The shame and the stigma of the disease of this addiction is very real. The loneliness of this stigma is what keeps us from reaching out. We know, we lived there for a time.

It has been much easier making friends with people who are going through this. They understand us when no one else does.

The book says,

Host a hands on, sushi making party for your friends. Tell each person to invite someone else.

You get the supplies (sushi, rice, nori or seaweed sheets, crab, cucumber, avocado, and other fillings).

Explain the directions:

Each person puts rice on the nori, adds the filling they desire, rolls the sheets, wets the ends and wraps it over the other to seal and close, and then cuts the rolls into several pieces. Depending on the number of people participating, you will have plenty of sushi to eat.

Sharing a meal with friends is one of the most pleasurable activities known to humankind. And who knows? You may make new friends! Saki, anyone?

This challenge is a sushi party among friends. Don't like sushi? Then host a party you like. What about deserts? Or new recipes?

Just For Today: I am thankful the friendships I have.
