Challenge Myself: Day #23 Read A Spiritual Book

Today is Day #23 of our Nar Anon Group Just For Today Challenge. I am also integrating the Live Happy into my Challenge. The Live Happy Challenge for today is to read a religious or spiritual book that is unfamiliar to us.

The book says,

If your heart feels bereft of some spiritual inspiration, explore options and read a book that focuses on one of the great religious yet unfamiliar religious traditions of the world. Choose and inspirational book if you need a little lift in encouragement.

Read the history of your chosen religion or spiritual tradition if you prefer historical perspective. Study the sacred texts, for example the Bible, the Torah, the Vedas, or a book on Buddhism which may be unfamiliar to your traditional beliefs.

Read biographies of the saints. Let the words and deeds of holy beings such as Sufi mystic Rumi, or the Indian saint Mirabai, who were drunk with love for the Divine, lead you back to your spiritual center where your heart can feel happy again.

This is asking us to step outside and away from  our comfort zone. Many are afraid to step outside the box. One unfamiliar to many would be the teachings of Mother Theresa or the Delhi Llama for instance. Many of these you can find online to read if you didn't want to read an actual physical book.

Just For Today: I will step out of my comfort zone, if only just for today.
